Weekend happenings

The Awesome Wife is starting her first day today at Peapod. The nice people there has send us a gift basket from Cookies by Design. I will post the picture later on. A failed experiment on Sunday for dinner. Me and The Awesome Wife had a craving for sushi and she went to pick them up at a local Asian Supermarket. The 5 Year Old was at first excited at the notion of another asian cousine (she loves sweet and sour chicken), but once she saw the sushi she became her usual I-don't-want-to-try-anything-new-even-if-mom-and-dad-say-it's-the-best-thing-since--medium-done-steak self and refused to eat them. She picked one apart for a piece of salmon and the rice. She did try the weed salad, which in my opinion looks less appetizing. And ate couple of pot-stickers. Overall, sushi for her will have to wait a little bit longer.

BBQed chicken

I was always afraid to put the chicken on the grill. Thought I would either burn it or it will try out. Well, not anymore. We've marinated the chick breast with dijon mustard (my favorite) and after 10 minutes on the grill it was not burned nor dry. Yum!

Oprah vs Sigourney

I have recently watched Discovery Channel's episode of Life, and couldn't help but compare it to Planet Earth. The imagery is awesome of course and it's very interesting. But I have a little problem with the narration. When Mrs. Weaver narrated it her voice was soft and carried a hint of awe of the nature. Unfortunately for me Mrs. Winfrey's voice is overwhelming the imagery and does not carry with it the subtlety required in the nature epic. IMHO.

Busy busy busy

I don't have time for anything these days. I've procrastinated enough that I have to finish a paper, a third of another paper, and a presentation all before next Tuesday. I hate going into the overdrive modes, but I don't think I have much choice now.

Marketing is not as bad as everyone claims for it to be

I actually enjoy this class. The material is fairly intersting although a bit outdated. The cases that we have to work with are from early 2000s. Our group's project is a social networking website that allows high school athletes to advance themselves further in their favorite sport. The difficult thing about being an exclusevly online "business" is that standard marketing channels do not apply. we really have no goods distribution it's all virtual. Here is the logo that I've designed. We are almost at the end, and I have two cases to finish plus the group presentation. They are actually going put us in front of a panel of proffession judges, to give us hell about our project.

Weekend Happenings

Is this the first sign of getting old? I take some pride in the fact that sleep is not the most important thing for me. My internal clock has never let me down. I can wake up to the minute of the time I need. Not this time. The time-change on saturday has knocked my clock off completely. I overslept today, I still can't wake up (being awake for 2 hours now). partially it is due to the fact that on Saturday we went to see this guy in concert. And then of course spring is the time when all of the 5 Yeard Old's friends are having birthdays, so we went to two birthday parties. One other thing that might need a post of its own. Couple of weeks ago The 5 Year Old came back from the kindergarden telling us that verything was created by God. Probably one of her friends with more religious parents than us, told her that. Now I didn't say they were wrong, I firmly believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and a set of beliefs, but me being a sneak, our bed-time stories h

Pandorring

BEcause I now have a "cool" phone I have decided to give Pandora a whirl. I used to listen to music while I worked. At some point it became distracting and I stopped. I think I am ready again. I have started with AC/DC of course, which gave me "Shoot to thrill". The next song it opened up was "Rock you like a hurricane". Why? - Based on what you told us so far, we are playing this track because it features hard rock root, a subtle use of vocal harmony, demanding instrumental part writing, and (my favorite part) dirty electric guitar solo That's me. The next honors went to Ozzy with "Paranoid". The next was GNR's "Paradize City". The next was Aerosmith's "Dream On" The next was Queen's "Another bites the dust". The next was Zeppelin's "Kashmir". One of the common themes among descriptions was minor key tonality. Wonderful selection. Me likey this.

A very unsettling thought

Yesterday i was watching Discovery's Planet Earth about deep ocean. A one point Sigourney Weaver has told me that there are crabs and shrimp in the ocean that feed of bacteria living on the slopes of underwater volcanoes, in temperatures of up to 400F. This is very unsettling because it seems that there are crustaceans in this world that can not be boiled and eaten. I say very unsettling.
