Dangerous Animal Part 2

I said that I wasn't going to be satisfied with the header image. Here's an updated one. I've decided to model in 3D all the things in my interest(few for now). One of the more curious thing is the Enterprise model (it's not mine, was available for download at TurboSquid. I was always more of the TNG person. I think, time permitting, I will model NC-1701D. The blueprints are available on the internet. I will of course add more things as I go forth.

Bored developer is a dangerous animal

I have a lot of work, but all of it is quite boring. When I am tired and bored I find escape in graphic design. That lead me to creating a new header image for the blog. Why this particular image? I don't know. I always wanted to create something sci-fi looking. A font I have found online gave me an insparation to create 3D text, and reminded me how to do 3d materials. The circles and sci-fi looking crap was done by me searching for all sorts of brushes for pgraphics soft. maybe I should have done flowers and squiggly lines. I'll probably get sick of this pretty fast. So I'll do another one.

The last experiment

This is the end of experimentation. I did it using Default Max scanline render, which allowed me a bit of a greater flexibility with Depth of Field, rendering it as a camera effect. And with less artifacts.

Experimenting with composition

I haven't done much 3D in the last couple of months. I created this picture because I wanted to have an original wallpaper for myself. The composition is very simple. The point of the exercise was to experiment with raytracing materials and depth of field for a more-or-less realistic look. The pixelation of blurred regions is due to a smaller sample size on the render. The render itself took about 20 minutes. If I have increased the sampling size it would be exponentially longer. Little patience I have. The image is big 1680x1050 px --------------------------------- An Update. Watching couple of tutorials I have achieved a better grasp as to how to do the depth of field. I have also switched to a different material type, using only raytrace. Here is the end result. The white artifacts due to insufficiency of processing power of my laptop.

Slow week

I really have nothing to say today. There is a lot of work and studying to be done. I have a team presentation to do on the conomies of Electronic Health Records industry in two week. A lot of research needs to be done for that, even though I work for the company int he industry. Our CEO is jumping around with glee since the stimulus package singed by the president has about $20 Billion allocated for the purpose of pushing EHR into the doctor's offices. I was surprised to find out that EHR penetrated only about 28% of the market. It makes US fall behind a lot of the European countries , in the 6th place. Anyways, I said that one of my hobbies is 3D modeling, and here is a piece of work I finished recently. I've rendered it specifically to look like a cartoon. I like the look of it.
