A pic a day keeps boredom away...

Well, I don't have a lot to report. The class is over, and a got a solid A- instead of a solid B. There is a lot of work. I have moved to the new office by the O'Hare Airport last week, and so far it hasn't been bad. I have a cubicle mate who is of Russian descent, so I can talk with somebody now. The office is located about a mile away from the one of the airport's landing strips. And it's right on the path of landing airplanes. I will try to bring another camera in for a better snapshot but here's something to give you an idea. Taken on my phone.

Weekend update

Finally some beautiful weather here in Chicago. We have decided to go to our regular hunting grounds at Lincoln Park Zoo. We slept well into the morning, picked up our good friends and in the company of four adults and three children went to see the animals. The photographer in me was screaming bloody murder to go out and make pictures. Thankfully my wife was very tolerant this time around with me running around like a madman taking picture of anything that moved. Lincoln Park Zoo is a great little place. It's free (if you don't consider $17 parking) they have all the animals kids love to see, and none of the animals where you stand scratching your head wondering how do you explain platipus to a 5-year-old. One bad thing that happened today, is I think i forgot to close the car, and somebody got in and stolen my Magellan GPS. Luckily nothing else was in the car, so other then that the car remained untouched. Unpleasant, but I have only myself to blame, and I think I'll live...

Weekday happenings...

With my parents in town, we have decided to try to visit a brand new place in the city. My wife has found an interesting spot called Garfield Conservation Park. It is a huge Greenhouse hosting more than 1800 plants. This is the train station by the place. I did not know Chicago had these. And here are the pictures of some flowers.

I Have found aliens

This picture was made on Saturday in the Botanic Gardens. I made it with my D60 Nikon using 200mm zoom lens. I swear by anything that is I hold dear, that this picture was not edited in any way. And here's the Alien!

You know it's spring...

When these little guys start to show up on your backyard. I was shooting him first from about thirty feet away with a 200 lens. I slowly approached him so not to scare him away. The last picture, which is below, was shot about 7 feet way. When I tried to get even closer he bolted. Soon, I hope to get some pictures of little bunnies. Maybe they'll fart rainbows.

First Photographs

This is for you photographers over there. This is one of the images I took with the new camera, on fully automatic. Less than perfect lighting conditions, afternoon in the play room. On eof the problems with the picture is that the wall behind Mickey is supposed to be green. And I am not talking a greenish shade, to a normal eye the wall paint is substancially greener than perfectly white ceiling. I understand of course that there is a lot I need to learn about making good pictures. Shouldn't that start with a camera though? :) Maybe someone can point me at good resources for amateur photography.

Pathetic - UPDATE

The weather and staying home is getting to me. I am seriously considering hibernation these days. Instead of typing I am reverting to lazy picture posting. Here is another one. I think our gutters are filled with snow. This picture was made out of Little One's bedroom window. ------------------ Oh, Yeah. I stayed until eleven watching the Bears game yesterday. I can't believe they've won. This could have been the most exiting nail biting 4th quarter EVER! All hope is now on Vikes loosing to Giants and Bears thrashing Houston.

Weeks Pictures.

This is a topic I'll try to do every friday or so. I'll put any picture I worth interesting enough, that I have taken throughout the week. There's two this week. A nice set of clouds and a full moon over the town.

Tuesday Eve

Everyone around recently have been posting sunsets. I couldn't because the weather SUCKED! As I was leaving work today, I've caught a glimpse of a big flock of geese flying in the general direction of Minnesota, with a nice sunset in the background.

Picture perfect.

I have started to take our little camera with me, to get those occasional awesome moments that I want to remember or share. Here is some nature awesomeness. A full rainbow arc, I took yesterady in the parking lot of the college. I should have used the stitch feature on the camera, but I haven't figured out how to use it yet.

I hope it's not an alien life form.

Every year my backyard is visited by one! of these little guys. I see it grow from about about 1cm long to about 1 inch long every year. But I've never seen the adult form. I think it's a grasshopper. Any insectologists out there?
