Something new.

The Burlak Family, thanks to the Awesome Wife, has found a new yearly tradition. It seems that not that far away from our house is a nice apple orachard. They have opened it for apple picking last weekend. I love apples, so we went there to get ourselves some. It's a nice fun family activity. The McIntoshes, Empires, and Johnathans have ripened nicely and we picked up a bag and a half of apple deliciousness.

In two week theys are going to open golden delicious, my favorite variety, part of the orchard. Maybe will visit again.

Fresh apples, mmmmm. Apples are great to just eat, or make pies with, or apple crisp.

Sadly there are no apple orchards around here, but wild blueberries abound, so blueberry picking is a favorite pastime. You just have to watch for the bears who are glad to partake of all your hard work.

I didn't know there were any apple orchards around! I love apples, especially Jonathans.

We were up by the orchards in Wisconsin last year, but unfortunatly wont be able to make it up this year.

Matt, they are in Libertyville off the 176 exit on 294. Close to Labms Farm.

There is another orchard in Buffalo Grove, but I am not sure they have apples there.

We tried something similar when we first moved to New Jersey, and then on irregular occasions in the following years... I'd rather just eat, of course, but the kids love picking...
