Just because

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe: All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought -- So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought. And, as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came! One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back. "And, has thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!' He chortled in his joy. `Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.

Fall TV Schedule Wednesday - Thursday

Cougar Town is still funny in my opinion. That's as far as Wednesday goes. Thursday. Very smart move by CBS to move Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men over to comedy night. They are still much better and funnier than critically acclaimed NBC's whatever. Thursday night still holds Fringe for me, which is even freakier now with the setup they have runnning. The other parts belong to soapy medical dramas Gray's Anatomy and Private Practice , although I am kind of filled-up with them.

Fall TV Schedule Tuesday - Wednesday

It seems that SGU is moving over to Tuesday nights, something I am definitely looking forward to. I have yet to pass judgement on Detroit 1-8-7 it seems human enough, but I haven't seen anything gripping about it yet. Wednesday night belong to comedy on Fox. Modern Family is as funny as last season. Cougar Town , I haven't watched yet.

Fall TV Schedule - Monday and Tuesday

Well the Fall Tv season is upon us and I am scrambling to find the shows I am going to watch. Some of the stuff I wanted to take alook at is hindered by the new season of Dancing With The Stars which our daughter loves, and I DVR it for her. Castle is of course the main course on Monday night and so is How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men . There was a season premier of Chuck which I believe I will leave to Hulu viewing and a show called the Event . I haven't watched it, but I might give it a try. Although I am pretty tired of human dramas/thrillers with an supernatural undercurrent to drive the show's plot. For that I will have Flash Forward . I haven't looked at Hawaii Five-O remake, I am not sure I would have liked it. Too many cliche's from the looks of it and not enough fun. Nothing else struck my fancy on Monday night. There is of course football on Monday nights, but I will leave to a single Bears game this season (maybe it's two I haven't loo

Close encounters of the stinky kind

I stepped outside yesterday evening on my deck. As I turned around I saw a skunk skulking close by. I think this bastard lives in the neighborhood, maybe even under my deck, I've seen him plenty of times. He saw me, froze and rose his tail. I saw that and as quickly as possible stepped into garage and closed the door. I think he also got scared and quickly shuffled off. At least he didn't spray. Humans are supposed to be the kings of the environment, why is it that we are afraid of a small striped animal?

In the US tomato is a vegetable

Ildly browsing through the Wiki (I was reading about scoville scale) I happened upon this article. Nix v. Hedden, 148 U.S. 308 (1893)[1] , was a case in which the United States Supreme Court addressed whether a tomato was classified as a fruit or a vegetable and decided it was a vegetable. The Tariff Act of March 3, 1883 required a tax to be paid on imported vegetables, but not fruit. The case was filed as an action by John Nix, John W. Nix, George W. Nix, and Frank W. Nix against Edward L. Hedden, Collector of the Port of New York, to recover back duties paid under protest. Botanically, a tomato is a fruit because it is a seed-bearing structure growing from the flowering part of a plant. The court, however, unanimously ruled in favor of the defendant, that the Tariff Act used the ordinary meaning of the words "fruit" and "vegetable" – where a tomato is classified as a vegetable – not the technical botanical meaning.

Random happenings

I don't know if he does this often. Last night, as I watched the season finale of Leverage , I notivced that the episode was directed by none other than Numb er One, Mr. Riker himselft - Jonathan Frakes. Cool beans. As our 6 Year Old delves deeper into reader on her own we are facing a problem. We want her to read Russian books. She loves Junie B Jones, Arthur, and Magic School Bus series of chapter books. But there is nothing like that in Russian. Never was to my memory. We are struggling to find her russian books that would be fun and easy to read at the same time. Most of the old kids literature she knows by heart, and does not read as much recites from memory now. I don't remember the books I used to read when I was six, but they were always written for somebody who was RUssian native speaker.
